Express Connection Tutorial
Welcome to the Schnucks Express Connection, designed and offered to meet
the needs of our busy customers and their families! At Schnucks, we are
committed to excellence as an innovative retailer of quality

System Requirements and Performance
Your first Express Connection On-Line shopping trip should be a
pleasant experience. You can expect to spend an hour or more placing
your first order. As you become familiar with the virtual store
layout, it will become easier and less time consuming to place your
orders. To speed the process, be sure to build a FAVORITES list and
utilize both the PAST ORDER history and the FIND PRODUCT features.
These features can greatly reduce the time necessary to place your
order.
The performance of the Express Connection program may be affected by
the individual user's computer system. Your computer's speed and
memory size, and the speed of your modem can greatly affect the
responsiveness of the Express Connection web site. Pentium processor,
16 megabytes of memory, and a 28.8k or faster modem are minimum
requirements for an acceptable performance level. Your Internet
Service provider and the quality of your phone line may also greatly
affect the overall performance of the Express Connection web site.

The Schnucks Express Connection has no monthly membership fee
unlike many other popular computer- or web-based shopping systems
around the country.
It's easy to "Join Schnucks Express Connection"!
Simply fill out the online membership form and you'll be an official
member! Use your Internet email address (i.e., customer@aol.com) as
your Membership ID, and select your own password. Keep your
password confidential. If you ever lose or misplace your password,
contact express@schnucks.com.
If you're not ready to send an order, feel free to join and browse
through our virtual store. You won't be required to place an order.
Delivery Areas
To place an order for delivery, the delivery address must be within our
delivery area. Click on the delivery map icon at the top of
this page to see if your zip code is within our delivery area.
We plan to continue expanding our delivery area. Let your local
Schnucks store know you're interested in having this service in your
area, and keep checking on our progress!

Ready To Go!!!!
Once you have joined, you may start shopping by clicking on Member Sign-in. You will be asked to enter
your Membership ID and your password. When you first sign in, you will
be at the 'Express Connection Main' screen. From there, you may:
- Select a Delivery Address or Pickup Location --
The first time you log in, the address you gave when you joined
will be used as the delivery address. The User Preferences
button (or 'User Prefs') will allow you to select a Delivery
Address or Pickup Location. This can be done at any time during
the shopping process. You can also use this section to create
alternate delivery addresses. You may add as many alternate
delivery addresses as you like. Your selected Delivery Address
or Pickup Location will be automatically selected for you the
next time you log in.
- Shop --
The 'Shop' button will allow you to add items to your cart in
several different ways, which will all be described later.
- View Your Shopping Cart --
To see what items are currently in your shopping cart, select
'View Cart.' You will be able to change the quantities of the
items in your cart, or remove individual items. You can specify
that substitutions may or may not be made on individual items if
they are out of stock (normally, substitutions will be
made unless you specify otherwise).
- Clear Your Shopping Cart --
The contents of your shopping cart are saved if you have to
leave Express Connection in the middle of an order, so if you
want to start completely from scratch you'll need to clear
(empty) your shopping cart. When you select this option, you
will be asked to confirm your action, and your cart will be
emptied. There is only one other way to clear your cart, and
that is to place an order for delivery (more on that later).
- Check Out --
This option will begin the checkout procedure for the items that
are currently in your cart. You will be prompted for payment
and delivery information, and you will be given an order
confirmation number when the order process is completed. After
placing an order, your shopping cart will be cleared
automatically.

There are several ways to shop (add items to your cart) in the Schnucks
Express Connection System. They are:
- Departments --
The way that is most like shopping in a real store is by department (the
'Departments' button). Each department contains several sections, each
of which contains items. As you browse through departments and
sections, you may enter a quantity to be placed in your cart, or click
on a checkbox to add the item to your list of favorite items (more on
that later). Press the 'Submit' button to make any of these actions
take effect.
- Favorites --
Once you've marked some items as 'Favorites,' you can shop directly from
a list of these items by clicking on the 'Favorites' button. Quantities
may then be entered for addition to your cart, or you may click on a
checkbox to remove an item from your Favorites. Press the
'Submit' button to make any of these actions take effect.
- Past Orders --
Once you've placed at least one order, you will be able to shop from
your previous order. Select 'Past Orders' to see a list of items that
were on your previous order. You may specify a quantity to add to your
cart, or click on a checkbox to add an item to your Favorites, just like
in Departments. Press the 'Submit' button to make any of these actions
take effect.
- Find Product --
Schnucks Express Connection now has a powerful search engine, so you can
now find those previously hard-to-find items. Under 'Search,' you may
enter a word or words to search for in item descriptions. Upper vs.
lower case is insignificant. The result is a list of items that match
all of the words you entered, and you may then add items to your
cart or your Favorites. Press the 'Submit' button to make any of these
actions take effect.
For most items, you should enter how many you want, and it's as easy as
that.
Items in produce should be ordered by quantity. For example, if you
want to order a number of apples that are priced by the pound, specify
how many apples you want.
Items in the meat department are priced by the pound. Some items are
show by package weight ("Ground Beef, 2lb avg. weight"). These items
should be ordered by the package. For example, to order one package of
"Ground Beef, 2lb avg. weight", enter 1 (one) in the quantity field.
Other items are shown with the individual item weight ("Pork Sirloin
Chops, 0.3lb avg. weight"). These items should be order by the
individual quantity that you want to receive. For example, to order 6
"Pork Sirloin Chops, 0.3lb avg. weight", enter 6 (six) in the quantity
field.
Deli items are custom-packaged and should be ordered by weight. For
example, if you would like a pound and a half of provel cheese, specify
1.5 as the quantity.
In any case where an item is priced by weight, the price of the
quantity you order will be estimated by the Express Connection system
when you look at your cart summary, 'View Cart,' or when you check
out. For items you specify by weight, when the order is shopped, the
shopper will try to match the requested weight as closely as possible.
The actual price may vary slightly on your receipt due to these
variations.
To the far right, you will see our current store price for each item.
To help you get the most for your money, specially priced items will be
designated by color-coded icon labels.
Our weekly advertised specials will be designated by a red 'Ad Feature'
icon.
"Buy-One-Get-One-Free" items will be designated by a green 'Buy 1 Get
1' icon. The price displayed for these items reflects half price for
the purpose of calculating your estimated total. You must order a
quantity of two to take advantage of "Buy-One-Get-One-Free"
specials. You may choose to order two of the same item, or you may
want to order one each of two different items within the
"Buy-One-Get-One-Free" group.
Any in-store limits and/or purchase requirements always apply to
Express Connection orders. For example, certain items may require a
minimum purchase of $10, or there may be a limit to how many of a
certain item may be purchased at the sale price. We reserve the right,
in all cases, to limit purchase quantities. If minimum purchase
requirements are not met, or if more items are ordered than the sale
limit allows, regular price will be charged for these items, and this
will be reflected on your register receipt.
Selection and Special Instructions
Our on-line store brings approximately 15,000 of our most popular
products to your fingertips! If, however, you don't see one of your
personal favorites, don't despair. If you wish to purchase an item you
could not find, or if you have special instructions for your shopper or
delivery person, just type them into the 'Delivery Comments' area when
you place your order. We'll do our best to deliver your order exactly
as you request.

Schnucks' Express Connection is open for shopping 24 hours a day, 7
days a week. Delivery and pickup schedules vary by area. On most
days, there are several delivery windows and an evening pickup window
available to choose from. The checkout procedure will list the
delivery or pickup windows available, along with the corresponding
fees. Delivery and pickup schedules will be limited during holiday
seasons.
You may place an order for delivery for any available window through
Sunday of the current week. Orders for same-day delivery (delivery
windows after 2:00PM only) must be placed no later than 11:00AM that
morning. Orders for same-day pickup must be placed by 1:00PM Monday
through Friday, or 11:00AM on Saturday and Sunday. Orders
for next-day delivery (for delivery windows before 2:00PM) must be
placed no later than 7:00PM the day before.

Payment for Pickup orders must be made at time of pickup, with any
payment medium that the store accepts.
Payment of delivery orders may be made by Credit Card (Mastercard, Visa
or Discover) or Schnucks Corporate Charge at the time the order is placed,
or by Check at time of delivery. Because of system constraints, no cash,
gift certificates, coupons, food stamps, or WIC vouchers will be accepted
for payment of any Express Connection delivery. If you are writing a
check, make it payable to Schnucks, for the total dollar amount on
the register receipt at the time of delivery. The receipt will include
the delivery fee. Express Connection billings to MasterCard, Visa or
Discover will show up on your monthly statement as Schnucks Store 0150,
11420 Lackland Rd.
Item Returns
Items purchased using the Express Connection system may be returned to
your nearest Schnucks Store for refund or exchange. Items must be
accompanied by the Express Connection register receipt. If you need
further assistance, contact Schnucks' Express Connection department at
the numbers listed below.
Alcohol/Wine/Beer/Tobacco
Alcohol, Wine, and Beer will be offered on the Schnucks Express
Connection as part of our total offering. By Law, you
must be 21 years of age or older to order these products and be
21 years of age or older to receive the delivery. You will be
asked for identification and to sign for all deliveries containing
these products. Currently, tobacco products are not available
for purchase.
Sent Orders
Once you have completed the checkout process, an estimated total --
including tax and delivery charge -- will be shown. This is an
approximation only. If you have ordered items sold by weight
(LB), your total will be slightly more or less. The new tax law in
Missouri will also affect the Express Connection system's estimation of
sales tax, which will affect the estimated total. The register receipt
you receive at delivery time will reflect the correct amounts.
Security
At Schnucks we are aware that customers may be concerned over the use of
credit cards on the Internet. Protecting your privacy and security is
important to us. That is why as soon as you enter "checkout" mode a
technology called the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is automatically
started. This means that all data transmitted after this point will be
encrypted to ensure that your privacy is protected. Most Internet
services and web browsers support SSL technology; however, if your
browser does not support SSL, you will not be able to finish your
virtual shopping trip. If this is the case, please contact your Online
Service Provider or Internet Service Provider and ask how you may obtain
a browser that supports SSL.
