Affton Schnucks Recalls Ground Beef Processed December 16 and December 17

The affected beef has sell-by dates of Dec. 17 and Dec. 18

AFFTON, Mo. - Schnuck Markets, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall on 106 packages of ground beef sold between 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 and 1 a.m. Sunday Dec. 17 at its Affton store at 10070 Gravois Road in south St. Louis County. The recalled packages, printed with sell-by dates of Dec. 17 and Dec. 18, may contain pieces of a small metal clip.

There have been no reports of injury or illness. All varieties of ground beef were removed from the meat cases and the grinding equipment was inspected, cleaned and sanitized before production resumed.

Schnucks officials encourage any customer who purchased ground beef from the Affton store between 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 and 1 a.m. Sunday Dec. 17 with the sell-by date of Dec. 17 or Dec. 18 to return the packages for a full refund or exchange.

This is an isolated incident. No other stores are involved in this recall. Customers with questions can call the Schnucks Consumer Affairs department at 314-994-4400 or 800-264-4400.
