Nestlé Purina Recalls Alpo® Brand Prime Cuts In Gravy Canned Dog Food

Product may contain wheat gluten with melamine

 

            ST. LOUIS – Nestle Purina, of St. Louis, Mo., has announced a nationwide voluntary recall of Alpo® Brand Prime Cuts in Gravy Canned Dog in 13.2-oz cans.  The company is taking the voluntary action after learning that wheat gluten containing melamine, a substance not approved for use in food, was provided to Purina by the same company that also supplied Menu Foods.

            Schnucks and Logli stores carry a limited number of the affected products and are urging customers to check for the following Alpo Prime Cuts products with “Best Before Feb. 09” date, all in the 13.2-oz can:

            Schnucks and Logli customers in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Mississippi may return the specified products to their nearest store for a full refund.

            This recall includes other Alpo Prime Cuts products not carried by Schnucks and Logli stores.  Consumers are urged to check the Nestlé Purina site for additional affected products at www.purina.com.
