Del Monte Recalls Pet Treats

Products may contain wheat gluten with melamine

ST. LOUIS - Del Monte Pet Products has announced a nationwide voluntary recall of Jerky Treats Beef Flavored Dog Snacks in the 7.5-oz package and Pounce Meaty Morsels Moist Chicken Flavored Cat Treats in the 2.3-oz package. The company is taking the voluntary action after learning that wheat gluten containing melamine, a substance not approved for use in food, was provided to Del Monte.

Schnucks and Logli stores are urging customers to check for the following items:

Schnucks and Logli customers in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Mississippi may return the specified products to their nearest store for a full refund.

This recall includes other Del Monte Pet Products not carried by Schnucks and Logli stores. Pet Owners are urged to check the Del Monte site for additional affected products at www.delmonte.com/petfoodrecall.html.
