Castleberry's Recalls Canned Food Due To The Risk Of Botulinum Toxin

ST. LOUIS - Castleberry's Food Company, of Augusta, Ga., is recalling several canned products due to the risk of botulinum toxin. This is a nation-wide recall that includes multiple products - six of which are carried by Schnucks and Logli stores.

Schnucks and Logli customers in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Mississippi are urged to check for the following products. All "best buy" and code dates are included in the recall.

Customers may return the specified products to their nearest store for a full refund.

To date, the FDA has reported four illnesses associated with eating Castleberry's Hot Dog Chili Sauce.

Symptoms of botulism poisoning in humans can be fatal and symptoms begin from six hours to two weeks after eating food that contains the toxin. Symptoms may include double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing and muscle weakness that moves progressively down the body.
