Today, I am pleased to announce the details of our second major price reduction in two years. The Schnucks “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Low Price program involves price reductions on over 1,500 of the most frequently purchased items in our stores. This program will deliver significant savings to families of all sizes, and it’s a timely answer for those struggling to meet the challenges of the current economy.

Schnucks has always focused on providing value and remaining competitively priced, and in 2007, we announced an unprecedented drop in prices on more than 10,000 items. In the months that followed, that multi-million dollar investment grew as we continued to hold prices, as best we could, below the level of rising costs and expenses.

Currently, our buyers are working directly with national and Schnucks brand suppliers to negotiate reductions in costs that went up over the past year so that we can pass those savings on to you. However, in light of continuing economic pressures, we at Schnucks don’t want our customers to wait. We’re making these price reductions now, absorbing them as a company so that you can begin to save immediately.

The price cuts in the “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” program are deeper than before and include reductions on items that are among the top sellers at Schnucks. This means greater savings for you and your family on a targeted list of national and Schnucks brand products like cereal, milk, eggs, bread, bananas, peanut butter, baby food, frozen dinners, paper goods and more.

In addition, you will notice even more aggressive savings through advertised and in-store specials, coupon offerings and the popular Schnucks 10 for $10 program.

Because we continue to operate on slim margins, these price cuts are only possible because of our associates’ excellent work in keeping operational costs down and building savings that could be reinvested in lower prices. We also thank you, our valued customers, for acknowledging our savings programs with your support and patronage.
