Schnucks Receives Government Approval of Logli Supermarkets Purchase

ST. LOUIS -- The Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice have approved the purchase of Logli Supermarkets, Rockford, Ill., by Schnuck Markets, Inc. of St. Louis, MO.

The purchase of Logli's three stores required approval from both governmental agencies to ensure supermarket competition for consumers. The purchase was completed Monday, March 30.

"We are pleased to receive final governmental approval," said Craig D. Schnuck, chairman and chief executive officer. "We are looking forward to making an excellent operation even better for our customers. We are pleased to add to our team more than 1,000 new employees dedicated to customer service."

Schnuck Markets, Inc. now operates 89 stores in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. The family-owned company was founded in St. Louis in 1939.
