The new addition features a greatly expanded fresh produce department, along with expanded deli, floral, bakery and smoked meat departments, and a full food bar/salad bar, Chef's Express and Oriental carryout. The new addition also includes a new bulk food/nutrition department.
These departments will be arranged in a tall, open area beneath an exposed, painted structural ceiling that creates an open-market atmosphere.
Customers can enjoy their favorite coffee beverage at the new coffee bar and relax in the new seating area by the deli/salad bar area.
The 15,000 square-foot addition on the north side increases the store size to 60,000 square feet.
Still more improvements are planned for Dorsett customers. With the opening of the new addition, remodeling of the existing side of the store will begin immediately. Plans include a new video department, a pharmacy, a service meat center and the expansion of most major departments.
"When complete, the store will offer everything a new Schnucks offer," said Craig D. Schnuck, chairman and chief executive officer of Schnucks.
