ST. LOUIS -- There will be plenty of exciting food to sample Aug. 22-23 at the Missouri Black Expo 1998 Food Festival exclusively sponsored by Schnuck Markets, Inc. The Food Festival will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23 at America's Center downtown.

This is the fourth year Schnucks is sponsoring the Food Festival, which is the largest food court for Black Expos in the United States. Coupons for $1 off the regular $6 admission are available at the customer service desk at area Schnucks.

This year's Food Festival will feature 50 booths located inside the convention center. Visitors can sample a delicious lunch of Schnucks beef patties with Schnucks ketchup and mustard on Schnucks buns, top it off with some Schnucks Alaskan Classic Ice Cream and quench their thirst with any of the seven flavors of Schnucks Natural Springs Water. Schnucks breakfast cereals in children's and adult flavors also will be available to taste.

Other delicious foods will be available from 29 vendor booths featuring name-brand products such as: Andy Capp snacks; Borden Cheese Singles; Bunny Bread; Cap'n Crunch cereal; Cut & Clean greens; Earth Grains breads and cakes; Goldmans Gourmet Sauce; Milnot Evaporated Milk; Sunkist Orange Juice; Sweet Baby Raised Barbecue Sauce; Tony's Red Baron Pizza; and lots more.

Samples and coupons for health and beauty and household products will be featured in the remaining 15 booths.

The Reynolds Cooking Stage will be located adjacent to the Food Festival and will feature ongoing cooking demonstrations. Local manufacturer Andy's Fish Breading will demonstrate how to prepare a blooming onion. Wiley Mullins, creator of Wiley's Healthy Southern Classics, will prepare dishes with some of his ready-to-use spice mixes including Corn Boil, Potato Salad Sprinkles and Greens Seasoning.
