Schnucks customers ordering groceries on-line can take advantage of significant savings on 15 to 20 different items each week plus a different free item. Schnucks Express Connection can be accessed on Schnucks' home page www.schnucks.com. The free-item program ends Dec. 5.
The "grand opening" marks the Sept. 14 introduction of Express Connection on-line shopping delivery and pickup service in Columbia, Mo., and pickup service at its Carbondale and Centralia stores in Illinois, and its DeSoto, Dillon, Eureka, Festus, and Washington stores in Missouri. Schnucks Express Connection is now available in all the communities with Schnucks stores. The availability of on-line shopping delivery and/or in-store pickup service varies in each community.
"We want to introduce the convenience of on-line shopping to our customers who have never tried it and believe offering an on-line savings program will create a lot of interest," said Craig D. Schnuck, chairman and chief executive officer. "Internet shopping is here to stay. We want Schnucks to be the on-line supermarket for our on-line customers."
Customers ordering the discounted items and the weekly free item will save about $35 the first week and can expect similar savings every week. Discounted items available the first week include Soft n Gentle bath tissue regularly priced at $1.29 available for 59 cents and SoDri paper towels regularly priced at 67 cents available for 29 cents. The first week's free item is a fresh-baked, delicious 8-inch Nancy Anne apple pie which has a value of $3.99.
"The savings will more than cover the cost of delivery or pick-up service," said Schnuck. Generally, Schnucks Express Connection delivery fees cost $12.95 for same day delivery and $9.95 for next day or later delivery. In-store pickup service costs $5.95, where it is available.
When a customer clicks on Schnucks Express Connection, an Express Connection special button appears. The customer can click on this button to view a list of free and discounted Express Connection special items available that week.
These items will be easily recognizable to customers. An "Express Special" blue banner will appear next to the name of each Express Connection special item.
"We are very excited about our Express Connection grand opening. Customers benefit from the convenience of shopping from home and from the fantastic savings they can realize," said Scott C. Schnuck, president and chief operating officer of Schnucks. "It is like opening a brand new store, but this one isn't your neighborhood Schnucks down the street, it is as close and convenient as your home computer."
Sale prices advertised in Schnucks' weekly home mailer and Schnucks' in-store Shoppers' Guide also are available to on-line customers. On the Express Connection product menu, advertised sale items are displayed in red and buy-one-get-one-free items are displayed in green.
