Schnuck Markets Named Certified Angus Beef Retail Marketer of the Year
ST. LOUIS - Schnuck Markets Inc. has been named national retail marketer of 1999 by the Certified Angus Beefä Program, a division of the American Angus Association. The award is given to the licensed retailer that has aggressively marketed and created awareness of the Certified Angus Beef brand.
Schnucks also won advertiser of the year for creating significant awareness of the Certified Angus Beef brand.
Schnucks earned the title of second largest volume retailer of Certified Angus Beef. Schnucks finished second to Publix supermarkets of Lakeland, Fla., which operates 591stores. Schnuck Markets currently operates 91 stores in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana.
Certified Angus Beef is the best beef available. The USDA Grading Service identifies Certified Angus Beef according to rigid specifications. Only seven out of one hundred cattle meet these rigid quality specifications. All these quality specifications contribute to the characteristic flavor and juiciness of Certified Angus Beef.
"We just recently introduced Certified Angus Beef in all of our stores so all of our customers can enjoy its high quality," said Cy Jansen, vice president of meat merchandising for Schnucks. "For us to win those awards shows an outstanding effort to educate customers. The volume award is a true indication of tremendous customer acceptance."
