Remodeling of Schnucks on Telegraph Road in Oakville Gets Under Way:
Store Will Feature Expanded Departments and New Carryout Department
ST. LOUIS – Remodeling of the 59,000-square-foot Schnucks Market on Telegraph Road in Oakville has begun. A 10,000-square-foot expansion is being added and a complete remodel of the existing store will create a new 60,000-square-foot Schnucks Supercenter. The store is located in the Oakville Shopping Center, about two miles south of Interstate 270.
“When complete, the store will have everything a new Schnucks offers,” said Craig D. Schnuck, chairman and chief executive officer of Schnucks. “We will provide a greater variety of quality products, and add more of the convenient services our customers desire in a new pleasant, market-like atmosphere.”
Demolition of 3,600 square feet of empty retail space on the north side of the store was completed this winter. Footings and foundation work on the addition has just been completed. Brick and masonry work begin this week.
The new addition will feature a greatly expanded fresh produce department, along with expanded deli, floral, bakery and smoked meat departments and a full food bar/salad bar. The
store also will feature a new convenience food department offering ready-to-eat and heat-and-serve meals for busy customers on the go.
Remodeling will also take place outside and a new storefront will be added. The project is expected to be complete in early winter.
The store opened in 1976 and was last remodeled in 1986.
The store is managed by Store Manager Bob Cooper and Co-manager Betty Kraus.
