Big Halloween Treat for Wentzville Residents:
Schnucks Opens Largest Supermarket in Wentzville on Tuesday, Oct. 31
WENTZVILLE, MO – Customers won’t have to wear their costumes to get a treat this Halloween. The grand opening of the new 61,000-square-foot Schnucks Supercenter will provide a big treat for customers who want great product variety, selection and value when Schnuck Markets, Inc. opens its new supercenter on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. The combination food and drug store will be the largest supermarket in Wentzville. The store is located at the northeast corner of Pearce Boulevard and Wentzville Parkway.
The grand opening of the Schnucks Supercenter is part of a two-phase retail development. The 15-acre first phase includes the construction of the supercenter and an additional 12,600 square feet of retail shops and several parcels that will be leased or sold to other businesses. This phase will be completed early 2001. The second phase of the development consists of 12 acres located north of the development which will be anchored by a Home Depot. Construction will begin next month.
The new Schnucks Supercenter replaces the existing 33,000-square-foot Schnucks in the Wentzville Market Plaza on the Interstate 70 South Service Road, which is about one-half mile southwest of the new store. Retail business will officially close on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m., however the pharmacy will be open for business on Monday, Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The 116 associates who worked at the previous Schnucks have been transferred to the new store. In addition, Schnucks provided full- and part-time career opportunities for an additional 150 associates.
The new 24-hour Schnucks Supercenter combination food and drug store features a pharmacy, video department and much larger departments compared to the previous store.
“We are delighted to open this new much larger replacement store for our Wentzville community customers,” said Craig D. Schnuck, chairman and chief executive officer. “We have expanded the store, product selection and services to meet their needs.”
City officials expressed support for the new development. “I’m extremely delighted to see the Schnucks expansion and reinvestment in our community,” said Wentzville Mayor Vickie Boedeker. “It is a very good sign of the growth in our community and we know that Schnucks will continue to be an active participant in our community and civic programs.”
New Schnucks Offers Product Quality, Tremendous Variety and Value
The new 24-hour Schnucks Supercenter features a market décor on the right side of the store.
