Schnuck Markets Notifies Customers That Schnucks and Sealtest Half Percent Milk

With Last Sale Date of Nov. 12 May Contain Traces of Chocolate Milk

ST. LOUIS – Schnuck Markets, Inc. has issued a product advisory for customers purchasing gallon containers of Schnucks brand and Sealtest half percent milk, and half-gallon and quart containers of Schnucks brand half percent milk with the “Last Sale Date” of Nov. 12. The milk might contain traces of cocoa powder.

A malfunctioning valve allowed minute traces of chocolate milk to leak into half percent milk during pasteurization on Friday, Oct. 27. The amount of cocoa powder present was so small it could not be picked up by standard quality control tests. Cocoa powder settles to the bottom of a container after 24 hours.

The milk was shipped to stores between Friday, Oct. 27 and Monday, Oct. 30. About 5,000 gallons of half percent milk may have been affected. All affected product has been removed from store shelves. Customers can return the product for a full refund or replacement if they chose.
