Schnucks Announces $100,000 Corporate Gift to Jump-Start

"Scan and Give" Campaign for United Way's September 11th Fund

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Schnuck Markets, Inc. today made a $100,000 corporate donation to launch its "Scan and Give" campaign to benefit the United Way's September 11th Fund. Proceeds will help victims and their families in New York City, Washington, D.C. and western Pennsylvania affected by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

"We hope our corporate donation jump-starts our customers' participation in this fund-raising effort for the September 11th Fund," said Craig D. Schnuck, chairman and chief executive officer. "Our `Scan and Give' program offers customers in our Schnucks and Logli stores an easy way to make donations to help the victims and their families. The United Way will see that support and services will go where they are needed."

Continuing through Sunday, Oct. 28, Schnucks and Logli customers can tear off $2, $5 and $10 donation vouchers at the checkout for scanning as non-taxed transactions. Each tax-deductible donation will be shown on the register receipt.

Schnuck currently serves as board chairman of the United Way of Greater St. Louis. The Schnucks "Scan and Give" program will run concurrently with the local United Way's annual campaign and the agency's side-by-side disaster relief fund-raising efforts.

Schnuck Markets, Inc. currently operates 91 stores in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. Logli Supermarkets is a division of Schnucks with stores in Rockford, Ill. The family-owned company was founded in St. Louis in 1939.
