ST. LOUIS - The hammering, painting, moving and installing continues at Schnucks' Florissant store located at 8200 N. Lindbergh. St. Louis-based,
M. L. Johnson Company, Inc., the firm contracted to provide construction management services, is moving toward an early summer completion date.
Since work began in February, several departments in the 70,000-square-foot store have been expanded and remodeled. Customers will immediately notice new interior finishes being installed. Additionally, retail shops on the north side of the building are under construction and a similar expansion is planned for the south side.
Customer convenience options will be further expanded through the addition of a salad bar with a seating area, coffee bar, and hot food for carryout or immediate consumption. These areas will compliment the up-graded deli and seafood departments. The grocery, drug, and general merchandise departments will be completely re-set and expanded with new fixtures.
The dairy, frozen food, and meat departments will also be expanded, including a poultry-on-ice case to go along with the service meat cases.
The service center has been reconfigured and the pharmacy is being expanded and relocated to the front of the store. As a result of meetings with members of area community groups, new public restrooms have been added near the front as well.
"The remodel results in a practically brand new Schnucks store," said Craig D. Schnuck, chairman and chief executive officer of Schnuck Markets, Inc. "It's been redesigned with service and convenience options that will enhance every customer's shopping experience. We hope the results will appeal to loyal Schnucks shoppers and attract new customers to the store."
Schnuck said this is the first time his company has partnered with M. L. Johnson Company, Inc. "Although I was familiar with their excellent reputation and had followed their growth as a strong Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), we had not had the opportunity to work with the company until now." Schnuck added, "M. L. Johnson's team of construction managers have helped to move the project along smoothly and according to schedule. I am pleased to have been able to add them to the Florissant remodeling team."
Schnuck Markets, Inc. currently operates 90 stores and 81 in-store pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana including a Sentry Drug Store in Illinois. The family-owned company was founded in St. Louis in 1939.
