Schnucks Mid States Dairy Earns Top Honors in Missouri and Illinois

Schnucks Fat Free Cottage Cheese Wins Missouri State Fair's "Best of Show"

ST. LOUIS -- Dairy lovers now have proof that the cream really does rise to the top! Schnucks Mid States Dairy recently won top honors for almost every dairy product entered in both the Missouri and Illinois State Fairs including a Missouri "Best of Show" for Schnucks Fat Free Cottage Cheese.

According to Tim Mueller, general manager of Mid States Dairy, this is the second time in three years that a Mid States product has earned "Best of Show" in Missouri. Mueller said, "Of the eight items submitted in the Missouri State Fair, Mid States earned six first place ribbons and two second place ribbons."

The panel broke with tradition when they awarded `Best of Show' to Schnucks Fat Free Cottage Cheese. Mueller said, "A fairgoer indicated that ours was one of the best tasting fat free products ever submitted."

"We constantly try to improve our products," said Mueller. "This year, we changed our formula on fat free cottage cheese to give it more body and flavor."

He added, "These honors are tributes to our entire dairy team. Throughout the production process, it takes teamwork to develop and execute the right formulas with the best ingredients to produce flavorful items that will appeal to our customers.

In Missouri, both Schnucks Vanilla and Chocolate earned first place in the regular ice cream subcategory. Schnucks Select Vanilla and Chocolate each earned first place in the premium ice cream subcategory. Schnucks Sour Cream also earned first place honors.

In a rare occurrence, the Illinois State Fair judges awarded perfect marks to all three products representing the Schnuck Select line. In total, twenty-one items were submitted. Fifteen products earned first place and six earned second. Perfect scores were given to Schnucks Select Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry Premium Ice Creams, Whipping Cream and 1% and Skim Milks. Near perfect scores went to Schnucks Vanilla and Strawberry Yogurts, Schnucks Low Fat Chocolate Milk, Homogenized Milk, Chocolate Whole Milk and Schnucks Select Light Vanilla Ice Cream.
