Schnucks and Coca-Cola Team Up to Promote Academic Excellence
ST. LOUIS -- Coca-Cola and Schnuck Markets, Inc. are hoping to score big points with Memphis-area students by providing tickets to University of Memphis men's basketball games as incentive awards.
The two companies have teamed up with Tiger's Coach John Calipari to select three middle schools to receive $10,000 worth of tickets for remaining games. The schools selected are: Colonial Middle School at 4778 Sea Isle Road, Ridgeway Middle School at 6333 Quince Road and A. Maceo Walker Middle School at 1900 East Raines. All schools are located within neighborhoods serviced by a Schnucks store.
According to Jerry Beck, marketing and merchandising manager for Schnucks, tickets will be issued immediately so students can start earning the chance to attend a Tiger's game. "Coca-Cola and Schnucks are pleased to have the opportunity to offer schools a way to promote and reward academic excellence." He added, "It will be up to the schools as to how they actually award the tickets. We're just trying to do what we can to provide support to educators and students."
The schools were selected from an initial list provided by Coach Calipari. Schnucks then teamed the schools with Schnucks stores in their neighborhood. Beck said Schnucks has something in common with Coach Calipari, "Our company is also committed to supporting programs and events that provide assistance to youth and families. We are looking forward to developing a strong ties between our stores and the communities they serve."
