ST. LOUIS -- Beginning Friday, Oct. 17, all Missouri Metro area Dierbergs, Schnucks and Shop `n Save stores will start opening at 7 a.m. and they will stay open until at least 9 p.m.
Food Employer Spokesperson Michael Kaemmerer says temporary strike replacement workers are making the extra hours possible. "In just 10 days, all three companies have hired and are now training approximately 7,500 individuals who had been previously unemployed or underemployed. They really have stepped up to the plate, and our customers are noticing the enthusiasm that comes from providing people with opportunities in a slow economy."
Some stores are now fully staffed, but grocers say hiring is ongoing. Interested individuals may contact the employment hotline at 314-692-6130.
Meanwhile, Kaemmerer reports that customer traffic is trending upward. "After ten days, many people just now are seeing the need to return to the grocery store to stock up," he said. "Our store teams are welcoming them with open arms, and more services are being reopened everyday. We are determined to keep our focus on our customers and to make sure that they know their patronage is appreciated particularly during these difficult times."
