Atkins Endulge Ice Cream Now Available at Schnucks!
ST. LOUIS -- If you are looking for a tasty, low carbohydrate topping for that holiday pie or just want an icy treat, look no further than Atkins Endulge Ice Cream pints and Atkins Endulge Ice Cream bars now being delivered to Schnucks stores by Edy's Grand Ice Cream.
According to Keith Shannon, Schnucks ice cream category manager, this new formula is the result of several years of research by Atkins Nutritionals, Inc., a pioneer in production of low carb foods. "Endulge is the first `super premium' (16 percent butterfat as required by USDA), no sugar added ice cream that tastes as smooth and refreshing as regular ice cream," said Shannon. "Schnucks is pleased to offer this option to customers who are anxious to introduce low carb desserts into their menus."
Atkins Endulge Super Premium Ice Cream pints and bars are available in a variety of flavors and without all of the sugar and carbs. They contain only four grams of Net Carbs (carbohydrates that affect blood sugar) per four-ounce serving. Long a dream concept of the late Dr. Robert C. Atkins, one of this country's favorite desserts now becomes a healthy addition to the menus of the tens of millions of Americans who are now following a controlled carbohydrate lifestyle.
"In comparison to most super premium ice cream brands, Atkins Endulge Ice Cream has 70 percent less carbohydrates," explains Matt Spolar, vice president of product development and senior food scientist for Atkins Nutritionals. "We provide wholesome and appetizing foods, which offer successful and acceptable alternatives to high carbohydrate foods, and ever increasing variety and options."
Colette Heimowitz, director of education and research for Atkins Health and Medical Information Services, said, "Having convenient and tasty treats like ice cream helps people to further enjoy the luxury of the controlled carbohydrate lifestyle. In order to remind people to avoid bingeing and over-indulging, the ice cream are packaged in portion-controlled four-ounce cups, four cups to a container."
Atkins Endulge pints and novelties are produced by Integrated Brands. Integrated Brands, headquartered in Ronkonkoma, N.Y. also produces such ice cream favorites as Eskimo Pie, Weight Watchers Smart Ones, Tropicana and more.
