Schnucks Lake St. Louis Store Will Open Tuesday, June 15

ST. LOUIS - Company officials for Schnuck Markets, Inc. today announced that the Lake St. Louis Schnucks store at 101 Civic Center Drive would be open for business and ready to serve area residents at 9 a.m., Tuesday, June 15.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Craig Schnuck said, "Lake St. Louis residents have been waiting for a neighborhood store for a long time. We are pleased to offer customers this brand new, full-service Schnucks store where they will find the same quality, variety, value and service they have come to expect from Schnucks."

The 63,000-square-foot food and drug store will anchor the new Shoppes at Lake St. Louis community shopping center. According to Schnuck, the store will include a full complement of services including a full-service florist, in-store pharmacy, bakery (specializing in custom cake decorating) and a full-line liquor and wine department. There will be a cold beverage bar, a deli with a separate cash register and seating section, a service seafood department and sushi case and a hot and cold food and salad bar.

Lake St. Louis Mayor Michael "Mike" Potter said, "Schnucks and The DESCO Group have been very cooperative in bringing a quality development to the northwest corner of our new commercial sector. There eventually will be 1,000 plus jobs created (in total), and Schnucks anchoring that corner is very important to us." He added, "Schnucks and other stores in the center will bring much needed revenue to our city along with additional services people would normally have to go out of town to get."

Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. currently operates 99 stores (including five Logli stores) and 92 pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Mississippi. The family-owned company is ranked 80th in the Forbes magazine listing of the nation's "Largest Private Companies."
