Schnucks Now Accepts American Express Cards as a Method of Payment

ST. LOUIS - Don't leave home without your American Express card as all Schnucks stores now accept the card as payment.

Todd Schnuck, chief financial officer of Schnuck Markets, Inc., said, "Schnucks has offered the option in the Memphis area since we entered the market in 2002, and in recent months, we have received an increase in the number of requests from St. Louis-area customers."

Schnuck added, " The growing acceptance of credit cards among all types of retailers from fast food to dry cleaning has prompted us to expand services in all markets to include as many pay options as possible."

Schnuck speculates that many customers find it easier to budget and track grocery spending by charging it on a card. "American Express is just one more way we can make grocery shopping easier," he said.

In addition to American Express, Schnuck will continue to accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards as well as all other previous allowed methods of payment.

Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. currently operates 102 stores (including five Logli stores) and 97 pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Mississippi. The family-owned company ranks 94th in the Forbes magazine listing of the nation's "Largest Private Companies."
