Schnucks eScrip Card Puts the FUN Back in Fundraising!

ST. LOUIS - Just in time to capture the back to school buzz of excitement, Schnuck Markets, Inc. has launched the new Schnucks eScrip Community Card, a card that puts the fun back in fundraising, in the St. Louis metropolitan area!

Every time the eScrip Community Card is presented at the checkout, Schnucks will give a percentage of the total grocery bill to the consumer's designated organization (school, church or non-profit youth group). There is no need to go door-to-door, no bake sales and no candy sales. Customers simply earn money on goods they would normally buy at Schnucks.

The Community Card is not a gift card so there is no money required up front. It's not a typical loyalty card because you don't need to use the card to save on Schnucks already low prices. You just present the card every time you shop and you automatically earn money that is transferred monthly to the organizations of your choice.

According to Larry Maggio, Schnucks director of marketing, each cardholder can earn funds for his or her favorite organizations without doing anything extra. "The meter starts and ends each month. Our customers earn one percent for the first $300 in sales, two percent on the next $301-$600 and three percent on sales between $601-$999," Maggio says.

Joanne Remillard, eScrip executive vice president, explains, "Local schools we've talked to are excited about the possibilities this card holds. It's convenient, easier to use than similar programs, and once you register, the program requires no maintenance." She added, "It's a perfect way for families to help their children's schools earn money for computers, supplies, desks, textbooks or team uniforms."

School, church or non-profit youth groups can direct their members to pick up a card at any St. Louis Schnucks customer service counter. Customers then call 800-931-6258 to sign up and designate up to three different organizations as beneficiaries. Organizations will receive their funds monthly, making it an on-going, year-round fundraiser.

The eScrip website (www.escrip.com/schnucks.jsp) provides promotional material for organizations and information for participating families. The eScrip website also allows cardholders and organizations to track their earnings.

The Schnucks eScrip Community Card is not just for schools. Maggio says any non-profit organization can be a beneficiary of the program. "Schnucks is a strong community partner and we are excited about the opportunities presented through the Schnucks eScrip Community Card. It's one of the best ways we have to thank customers for their loyalty and patronage," said Maggio.

Customers can earn from out of pocket Schnucks Pharmacy purchases as well. However, money cannot be earned on the purchase of Schnucks Gift Cards, special services or taxes.
