Michael Schrader Joins Schnucks Floral Team

ST. LOUIS - Company leaders for Schnuck Markets, Inc. announced that Michael Schrader has joined the company as category manager/floral buyer reporting to Vice President of Produce Michael O'Brien. He will oversee the buying of all floral and gift products for the Schnucks Focus on Design floral design center at 9220 Shortline in St. Louis as well as 98 in-store floral outlets in seven states.

Schrader holds a business degree from the University of Missouri and comes to Schnucks from Botanicals on the Park where for the past eight years he was a manager/buyer. At Botanicals on the Park, he was responsible for sourcing and buying fresh cut flowers, giftware and seasonal goods and developing the custom floral displays, which helped to enhance the store's popularity with customers. Prior to Botanicals, he was involved in sales and purchasing for 14 years at Baisch and Skinner, Inc. of St. Louis.

In more than 20 years in the floral design business, Schrader has attained a level of expertise that has earned him a strong reputation in the floral industry. At Schnucks, Schrader is looking forward to taking the floral division to a higher level with themed floral statements, exotic stems and an expanded selection of giftware.

"More than ever before, flowers are an integral part of the décor in homes across the nation," said Schrader. "Schnucks customers can look forward to an introduction of emerging flower varieties to complement gift items that are upscale and on trend. These combinations will lead to exciting new possibilities in color themes and home accessorizing styles."

Currently, the entire Schnucks Focus on Design team is gearing up for nine truckloads of roses which will be used in bouquets and arrangements for special Valentine's Day deliveries. "It's without a doubt our most exciting time of the year. Just as you expect fresh, quality foods from Schnucks, you can also look to us for the freshest cut flowers around," said Schrader. "Our supply chain is extensive to ensure our customers have access to the best quality cut flowers."

Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 101 stores (including five Logli stores) and 98 pharmacies and 98-in-store floral departments in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Mississippi.
