Normal Schnucks To Open To Customers On Tuesday, Sept. 11

 

            NORMAL, Ill. - Schnuck Markets, Inc. will continue expansion into central Illinois with a brand new store in Normal, Ill.  The store located at 1750 Bradford Lane in the new Constitution Trail Centre, opens to customers at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

            According to Chairman and CEO Scott Schnuck, the first Schnucks store in central Illinois opened in nearby Bloomington in 1990.  “Our customers and associates have made the Bloomington store a success and we are excited to be able to expand our presence in the community,” he said.  “We believe Normal-area residents will enjoy the unique blend of quality food and drug products, service, variety and value that their neighbors in Bloomington have experienced for the past 17 years.”

            Schnuck says 17-year veteran and area resident Eric Snow has been selected to manage the new store.  “Eric relocated to Normal from our store in Pekin, Ill. where he was store manager for the past two years.  Eric brings experience and a long history of community involvement.  I know he will be a great representative for us in the community,” Schnuck said.

            According to Snow, the new 58,000-square-foot store will carry more than 45,000 different items.  “Our new store will feature family-friendly aisles and a wide selection of goods and services that will appeal to everyone – from the family cooks to experienced chefs,” Snow said.  “The market side of our store will feature the freshest fruits and vegetables in the produce department along with a full-service deli, bakery, seafood and meat department featuring the restaurant-quality Certified Angus Beef® brand.” 

            The Normal Schnucks store is expected to employ approximately 160 associates, the majority of which are new hires coming directly from the surrounding community.  

Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 101 stores (including five Logli stores) and 98 pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Mississippi.
