Schnucks Dardenne Prairie Deli Honored With "24 Carrot Gold Food Safety Excellence Award"

DARDENNE PRAIRIE, Mo. - The deli department at the Dardenne Prairie Schnucks, located at 3029 Highway K, has been selected by St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment as one of 11 eleven local food service establishments for demonstrating excellence in sanitation and food safety, as well as successful employee education, in 2007.

"We created the "24 Carrot Gold Food Safety Excellence Awards" to honor local food service establishments for their commitment to serving wholesome food to the people of St. Charles County," says Pieter Sheehan, the department's environmental public health manager. "While every food service facility under our jurisdiction meets food safety requirements, these eleven establishments exceed the standard. We hope the recipients prominently display their award, and we look forward to honoring more facilities in 2008."

Receiving the award on behalf of Schnucks were Store Manager Glen Turnbough and Deli Manager Vivian Healy.

To be eligible for consideration, recipients of the "24 Carrot Gold Award" cannot have any critical violations in the last twelve months, and no more than six non-critical violations in the same time period. In addition, at least 90 percent of the food facility managers at the establishment must have valid food safety certification. The facility must also have a valid St. Charles County Food Establishment Permit and be in good standing with the Department of Community Health and the Environment.
