New Waterloo Schnucks to Open Jan. 29

New Store Offer Everything You Need in A Grocery Store and MORE!

 

            WATERLOO, Ill. – Residents of Waterloo and surrounding communities will soon be able to shop at their brand new 58,000-square-foot Schnucks store.  The new store, scheduled to open Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 9 a.m., is located at 150 Waterloo Commons Drive and will replace the previous 31,000-square-foot store.  Normal hours for the new store will 6 a.m. to midnight.

            According to Schnucks Chairman and CEO Scott Schnuck, with almost double the space, the new facility will have several amenities new to Waterloo.  “We are excited to be able to offer our customers a host of new products and services.  The perishable area of the store will feature a food bar, fresh soup kiosk and olive bar in the full-service deli area.  The new store will also feature a seafood department, a service we could not offer at the smaller location,” said Schnuck.

            The original Schnucks at 738 North Market Street first opened as a Kroger in 1982.  Schnucks acquired it in the 1995 National acquisition from Loblaw Companies Limited of Toronto, Canada and remodeled it in 1998. 

            Store Manager Kent Schuchman thinks that customers will be pleased when they see what Schnucks can do when building a store from the ground up.  “The additional floor space of the new store allows us to offer wider aisles as well as approximately 45,000 products,” Schuchman says.  “We will also have an expanded liquor and wine department with wood laminate flooring and a U.S. Bank with expanded service hours.”

            Schuchman added that his team is prepared for the move and ready to serve customers.  “We ready to show the new store off to our current customers and, hopefully, attract several others that may be giving Schnucks a first try,” Schuchman said.

            The new store will employ approximately 150 associates. 

            Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 103 stores (including five Logli stores) and 100 pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Mississippi.
