Grand Remodel Nears Completion at Granite City Schnucks
GRANITE CITY, Ill. – As construction winds down on the extensive remodel, customers of the Granite City Schnucks store at 3100 Madison Ave. (62040) will notice changes from floor to ceiling.
The store’s exterior has been redesigned to reflect the look of newer Schnucks stores, and new décor and signage will immediately call attention to wall-to-wall upgrades including new flooring and new refrigerator and freezer cases throughout. According to 40-years Schnucks veteran Store Manager Tom Beckerle customers feel as if they are shopping in a whole new store! “We’re not quite finished with the remodel but shoppers are already telling me how much they love the new wider aisles,” Beckerle said.
“Our customers are also excited about our new full-service meat department,” he said. “Specializing in the Certified Angus Beef® brand, our meat masters can cut beef any way our customer want it. The poultry cases also offer a full array of prepared meats that are seasoned and ready for the oven.”
Beckerle says new low profile cases in produce help let the beauty and quality of the produce shine through. “We’ve always been very proud of our produce quality and now, we can really show it off,” he said.
“Our seafood department now offers a wider variety, and we can steam, bake or fry selections up at no charge while you shop,” Beckerle said. “The deli now includes a build-your own Sandwich Express bar, a Chef’s Express soup kiosk and a remodeled food bar. We are particularly excited about the wing bar that features chicken wings and fingers plus a variety of sauces including our own popular Schnucks spicy glazed wing sauce.”
In addition, the floral department has doubled in size and the expanded wine and liquor department offers twice the amount of wine and cold beer as before.
According to Granite City project manager Kelly Jemison, customers that look a little deeper will notice the store’s “green” aspects. “The store now incorporates many new green features including new water efficient restroom fixtures, high efficiency display cases, prep equipment and LED lighting,” Jemison says.
Beckerle says customers should watch for special savings and fun connected with the completion of the remodel later this month.
The 46,000-square-foot Granite City store was last remodeled in 2004. Schnucks acquired the store from National in 1995. It originally opened in 1985.
Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 105 stores (including five Logli stores) and 101 in-store pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Mississippi.
