Brighten Up Winter with Citrus at Schnucks

Schnucks to host Frieda’s Produce University® on winter citrus Saturday, February 25

ST. LOUIS – With winter in full swing, Schnucks is gearing up to add some bright citrus sunshine to their produce departments. On Saturday, February 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., all Schnucks, Logli and Hilander locations will host Frieda’s Produce University®: Winter Citrus 2012.  Produce staff will be conducting free tastings and sharing their knowledge on specialty citrus throughout the day.

Winter Citrus items include Shasta Mandarins, Cara Cara Oranges, Blood Oranges, Meyer Lemons, Kumquats, Melogolds and Pummelos. Shoppers are welcome to drop in anytime on February 25 to taste and learn about these citrus delights.

“Winter is actually the peak of season for many specialty citrus varieties, so it is the ideal time to enjoy them,” said Karen Caplan, CEO of Frieda’s Inc. “Add a new sweetness to your fruit salad, juices, or child’s lunch box with a brand new citrus you’ve never tried, available at Schnucks!”

The expert produce teams at Schnucks have offered several sessions of Frieda’s Produce University® over the past year. “Produce University® highlights our produce managers’ knowledge while providing shoppers with fresh education in the produce department,” said Mike O’Brien, Vice President of Produce for Schnuck Markets, Inc.
