Garden Fresh Foods Recalls Select Salads from Schnucks Delis, Food Bars and Chefs Express Departments
Onions used in the salads were previously recalled by Gills Onions
Garden Fresh Foods is recalling certain varieties of salads because they contain Gills Onions; a random sample of the onions recently tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported with this recall.
Customers at Schnucks, Logli and Hilander stores should check for the following salads purchased from the stores’ Delis, Food Bars and Chef’s Express departments:
Italian Pasta Salad

Sell-by dates between: 8/17/2012 and 8/20/2012
Greek Pasta Salad
UPC beginning with: 2-10359 or 2-18573
Sell-by dates between: 8/13/2012 and 8/17/2012

Tomato Mozzarella Salad

Schnucks also uses the Garden Fresh Egg Salad for egg salad sandwiches served from the Delis and Chef’s Express areas so these items are also being recalled:

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
