Garden Fresh Recalls Dips and Salads

Products could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes

 

Garden Fresh Foods, Inc. of Milwaukee, Wisc., has initiated a voluntary recall on ready-to-eat salads, slaw and dip products sold under various brands and code dates. The products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytongenes.  Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

 

At Schnucks, this recall affects these two Maggie’s Dips sold between August 9 and September 23, 2013.  If you have purchased these container dips, please return unused portion to the nearest Schnucks store for a full refund:

 

Maggie's White Fruit Dip, 12 oz.

Maggie’s Dips sold as part of taco or fruit trays will most likely have been consumed as they were ingredients at Schnucks salad bars, deli’s and Chef’s Express stations.  Schnucks is notifying customers of the recall of the following Schnucks brand taco and fruit trays.

On Sept. 26, Garden Fresh expanded the recall to include their egg salad, Greek pasta salad and taco salad.  Schnucks deli, food bar and Chef’s Express products that contain these recalled items are:

If you believe you have consumed recalled product and have questions or concerns, please see your healthcare practitioner.  Symptoms of Listeria contamination appear one day to three weeks after consumption.  Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Pregnant women or those with weakened immune systems may experience more serious complications.
