Garden Fresh Recalls Ham Salad

Product could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes

Garden Fresh foods, Inc. of Milwaukee, Wis. has initiated a recall on its Ham Salad because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.  Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.


This recalls affects the Ham Salad sold in Schnucks Delis, Chef’s Express nd Food Bars with the following expiration dates:


11-11-13, 01

11-13-13, 02

11-14-13, 02

11-15-13, 02

11-17-13, 01

11-17-13, 02

11-23-13, 03

11-25-13, 02

11-25-13, 03


This recall also affects Schnucks Ham Salad Wedge Sandwiches (both white and wheat).


Schnucks customers may return any unused portion of these products for a full refund.


If you believe you have consumed recalled product and have questions or concerns, please see your healthcare practitioner. Symptoms of Listeria contamination appear one day to three weeks after consumption. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Pregnant women or those with weakened immune systems may experience more serious complications.
