Become an Expert on Fruits and Veggies at Schnucks Produce University

Customers are invited to “class” on Saturday, November 15

ST. LOUIS – Turn an ordinary meal into an extraordinary one with help and advice from the produce experts at Schnuck Markets Inc.  On Saturday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Schnucks customers are once again invited to drop in for Frieda’s Produce University®, a hands-on opportunity to learn more about exciting and unique fresh fruits, veggies and gourmet items.

During the eight-hour open house, taking place at all Schnucks and Logli locations, produce managers will be on hand to answer questions and give customers the chance to see, touch and taste a variety of fresh foods. This session features small, tender and delicious Organic Klamath Pearl Potatoes and Assorted Fingerling Potatoes – two gourmet spud varieties with astounding culinary versatility.  Specialty fruit highlights include fresh Pomegranates, Quince and Fuyu Persimmons. Frieda’s Tomato Toss™, a flavorful blend of dried tomatoes and herbs, will also be sampled during the event.

Schnucks and Logli shoppers are welcome to drop in anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to sample some of these items, learn about nutritional values and discover ways to incorporate these unique and exciting ingredients into meals.

“We received a great response from our summer Produce University® event, and we are pleased to offer this educational opportunity to highlight fall produce.  Enlightening our customers about specialty fruits and vegetables broadens their tastes and cooking expertise, and highlights our Produce Teams as knowledgeable and dependable resources,” said Mike O'Brien, vice president of produce at Schnucks. Produce University® sessions at Schnucks provide the perfect opportunity to focus on seasonally available produce, such as unique specialty citrus in the winter, or fresh herbs and greens in the spring.

Since 1989, Frieda's Produce University® has helped educate consumers with in-depth product information, preparation ideas and samples of the latest specialty fruits and vegetables within grocers’ produce departments.  “We invite shoppers to discover and learn about the wonderful world of specialty fruits and vegetables at their neighborhood Schnucks store. Taste something new today!” said Karen Caplan, president and CEO of Frieda’s, Inc.
