Schnucks Creole Bread Pudding Named Favorite at St. Louis Competition

ST. LOUIS – In addition to mouth-watering, succulent and delicious, Schnucks Creole Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce can now be described using another phrase – AWARD-WINNING!

The Bread Pudding, created by the company’s chefs, won the People’s Choice Award in the “Just Desserts” competition at Manor Grove’s 7th Annual Soup’s On tasting competition at Meramec Community College in St. Louis County.

Schnucks Prepared Foods/Salad Bar Category Manager Gina Taylor says that the Creole Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce has been a favorite of Schnucks customers for many years.  “We create the Bread Pudding in our central kitchen and it can be found in the deli/prepared foods department of all Schnucks stores,” Taylor said.  “In celebration of Mardi Gras and through Fat Tuesday, we’ll be offering it at the special sale price of $2.29 a slice.”

The annual Manor Grove Soup’s On fundraiser benefits the patients of Manor Grove, a long-term care facility in Kirkwood, Mo.  Grocers and restaurants from across the St. Louis area are invited to enter their best-tasting soups and desserts.  This is Schnucks second year to enter the competition.

In fact, Taylor adds that at the previous year’s competition, Schnucks Carrot Cake took home top honors in both the Judges and People’s choice categories.  “Our Carrot Cake remains popular and includes pineapples and walnuts and is topped with a traditional made-from-scratch cream cheese frosting,” Taylor said.
