Products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes

Coon Rapids, Minn.-based Parkers Farm, Inc. is recalling Peanut Butter from the Des Peres, Mo. Schnucks store (12332 Manchester Road) because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes – uncommon but potentially serious bacteria.  To date, there have not been any reports of illness associated with any of Parkers Farm food products.

Schnucks Des Peres customers are urged to check for the following products:

Parkers Farm Peanut Butter – Creamy

UPC: 7776655100

Parkers Farm Peanut Butter – Crunchy

UPC: 7776655104

Parkers Farm Peanut Butter – Honey

UPC: 7776655200

Customers may return any unused product to Schnucks Des Peres for a full refund.

Consumption of food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially serious disease.  Its symptoms include fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.  Infants, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are at greater risk.  The disease also can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

Customers with questions may contact Parkers Farm at 1-800-869-6685 or the Schnucks Consumer Affairs department at 314-994-4400 or 1-800-264-4400.
