Sherman Produce Recalls Packaged Walnuts

Sherman Produce of St. Louis, Mo. has recalled packaged walnuts because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.  These walnuts were sold in packaged trays from Schnucks produce departments between March 22 and May 1, 2014.  During that time, Schnucks sold 1,331 of the tray packages.

Customers are urged to check for:

10 oz. packaged walnut trays

UPC: 00338390032

Sold: March 22 – May 1, 2014

Schnucks customers may return any unconsumed packaged walnuts to their nearest Schnucks for a full refund.

Customers with questions may contact the Schnucks Consumer Affairs Department at 314-994-4400 or 1-800-264-4400.

Consumption of food contaminated with L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. Less commonly, persons outside these risk groups are affected.
