Schnuck Markets, Inc
Schnucks Food Safety Efforts Recognized by the Missouri Milk, Food and Environmental Health Association
ST. LOUIS – On April 1, Schnuck Markets Director of Food Safety Dianna Pasley and members of the Schnucks food safety team traveled to Columbia, Mo. to accept a 2010 Special Recognition Award from the Missouri Milk, Food and Environmental Health Association (MMFEHA). Pasley and her team accepted on behalf of company leaders and the 15,500 Schnucks teammates across the Midwest.
Each year, the association seeks to recognize Missouri individuals that have made a significant contribution in milk, food or environmental safety. This is the first time the award was presented to a business. Schnucks was awarded company recognition because of the level of engagement the regional grocer has achieved in teaching teammates and launching food safety initiatives throughout the markets it serves.
This year’s honorees included Ericka Murphy, St. Louis County Health Department, Special Recognition Award; Reggie Weiss, Jefferson County Health Department, Ecolab Sanitarian Citation Award; Andrew Hoffman, Warren County Health Department, Wibur S. Feagan Award; and John McMullen, NEHA Certificate of Merit.
This award for Schnucks comes on the heels of the company’s 2009 Black Pearl Award honor. The Black Pearl award is presented annually by the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) and is the world’s highest honor for food safety.
Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 106 stores (including five Logli stores) and 103 pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee and Mississippi.
