Schnucks to host Frieda’s Produce University® on specialty fall produce Saturday, November 12

ST. LOUIS – With the holiday season approaching, Schnucks is ready to educate their customers on how to give holiday cooking a fresh and delicious twist.  On Saturday, November 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., all Schnucks, Logli and Hilander locations will host Frieda’s Produce University®, “Fresh Twist on Holiday Cooking.”  Produce staff will be conducting free tastings and sharing their wealth of knowledge throughout the day.

Featured fall items include Russian Banana Fingerling Potatoes, Cipolline Onions, Frieda’s French Style Crêpes, Fuyu Persimmons, Jicama, Pine Nuts, and Zululand Queen Baby Pineapples.  Shoppers are welcome to drop in anytime on November 12 to discover the superb flavor and quality of wide variety of fall produce items at Schnucks.

Several of the featured items will be available for sampling, and participating Schnucks produce departments will also be offering gourmet samples of pan-roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Cipolline Onions.

In addition to the November 12th tasting, Frieda’s Fingerling Potatoes and Cipolline Onions will be sampled at Schnucks Cooks November 18-20 in a Balsamic Roasted Potato recipe.

“This session, ‘Fresh Twist on Holiday Cooking,’ is a great way to show Schnucks shoppers how to give their traditional holiday dishes a new flavor while also putting more fruits and vegetables on the table,” said Karen Caplan, CEO of Frieda’s Inc. “Use these delicious fall produce items in your recipes and wow your family and friends with your creativity.”

Schnucks has offered several sessions of Frieda’s Produce University® over the past few years, and everyone involved is excited about giving the customers a great experience and new ideas for their holiday cooking. “Produce University® continues to better our produce managers’ knowledge and relationships with customers while providing the shoppers with a gourmet experience in the produce department,” said Mike O’Brien, Vice President of Produce for Schnucks Markets.
